MEPs have expressed their regret for the “restraint and limited engagement of the European Parliament” ahead of the Brexit referendum. The UK voted to leave the European Union on 23 June 2016. A new parliamentary report has been looking back on the Article 50 process. It concludes that citizens “were often misled about the implications of the withdrawal, especially as regards Northern Ireland”. Sinn Fein MEP, Chris MacManus, backs the report's findings. He says voters should have been better informed by the EU.
