US Close 7th Aug 17: US higher helped by Jobs data- insurers under pressure in Europe.

US sharemarkets rose in response to the strong job report. Shares in the financial sector did well after investors raised the chances of an interest rate hike by the end of the year. Shares in Goldman Sachs rose by 2.6% and it was the biggest contributor to the Dow Jones index. The Dow closed at 22,093 points, up almost 67 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 rose by 0.2% while the Nasdaq rose by 11 points or 0.2%. Over the week the Dow rose by 1.2%, the S&P 500 rose by 0.2% but the Nasdaq lost 0.4%.
