Writing Lines In The Sand

When I was younger, I used to draw lines in the margins of books. Sometimes literally—highlighting a sentence, scribbling a star, underlining a phrase that sounded like truth. I thought if I marked it, I could return to it later and feel exactly the same. Like pressing a leaf into a book to preserve the moment it fell.
