In this episode Imran Lakha, founder of OPTIONS INSIGHT, talks to Simon Harris, a veteran single stock options trader with many years in institutional trading experience.

 

Simon has worked for some of the leading institutions in the world of investment banking such as Credit Suisse, Citibank and Nomura.  Having run single stock options desks at this elite level, Simon is acutely aware of the risks and opportunities that lurk in the equity derivatives space.

 

In this conversation they discuss how Simon thinks about idea generation and his thoughts on how the landscape has changed since the meme stock craze of buying far out the money call options which was so prevalent in 2021.

 

Unlike index options, which is Imran’s speciality, single stocks events such as earnings can have major impacts on prices and Simon shares his insights on how he has played these type of events in the past.

 

With such long careers in banking, they have both seen their fair amount of volatility and they share some of the “war stories” that have stuck with them.
