Known as Mesopotamia, the land between two rivers is widely considered to be the cradle of the western world. Although home to many peoples, it was the Sumerians who earned the right to be called the world’s first true civilization. A land of great achievement and constant warfare, the Mesopotamian landscape would be the first home to power and politics that set the course for the modern age.
