Morning Report 5 Mar 21: US sharemarkets slumped on Thursday

The US Fed chief failed to allay investor worries about rising bond yields. Technology shares led losses. But the energy sector lifted in response to higher oil prices. The Dow Jones index fell by 346 points or 1.1% after trading in a 914 point range. The S&P 500 index fell by 1.3% and the Nasdaq index lost 274 points or 2.1%.
