“God Will Go Before You”
Text: Deuteronomy 31:1-8
Thesis: God promises to “go before us”, “Go with us”, and “He will never leave or forsake
us.”
1. God contends with all our challenges. (Vs. 1-5)
A. Moses is old, so God has found him a replacement in Joshua.
B. God has fought numerous battles for Israel in the past and promises to
destroy the nations (battles) before them. (Vs. 3)
C. God has fought numerous battles for us in the past and He will
“Go before us” and give us victory in life.
*“I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.”
Isaiah 49:25
1. God specializes in the challenge of our lives. They may come in the form of
ministry goals, difficulties at work or with other people.

a. Give your challenges to God by name so that “He can contend
with those that contend with you.”
b. Often the greatest heart-breaking challenges we face as parents,
are our children or grandchildren. (Do they know Jesus?)
c. God promises, “and your children I will save.”

2. God commands us to face the future with courage because He is
already there. (Vs 6)
*“I can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.”
Philippians 4:13
A. God is in the future before we arrive.
A. Courage in the Lord is commendable!
1. What is God calling you to do for Him in the 2022-2023 Church year that will bring him glory?
2. It is ok you if have never tried doing (Name God’s Calling) before.

3. God addresses the Leaders of the people to be Spiritually strong. (Vs. 7-8)
A. Moses addressed Joshua in front of the people.
B. The people take their cue from their leadership, so lead by example.
“The Church will rise no higher than the commitment of their leadership.”

“Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand the spines of others are stiffened.”
