The Beatitudes, Tradition, and a New Normal, All Saints’ Day

The sermon on the mount can be a tough thing to hear. Blessed are the poor, the merciful, and the persecuted; doesn't align itself with societies counter-biblical mantra of "God helps those who help themselves".We are heading into an uncertain future, will it point us toward or away from the kingdom of God? Ultimately, we do know the end state, and the sermon on the mount gives us a path as to how to get there. Will we listen to the words of Jesus?
