A company paused their interview process, then reached out after a long silence. What does that mean?

The question we're addressing here is about a company who paused a candidate's interview process. Without explanation about why they had an extended silence, the company reached out to resume the interviews with the candidate as if nothing happened. The person asking the question was rightfully confused, and asked my opinion.
