The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker told the European Parliament this morning that not enough progress has been made on the Brexit negotiations to move beyond the initial phase. At the moment the talks are focused on three issues. They are citizens’ rights, Northern Ireland and the financial settlement. The EU wants to see significant progress on these specific issues before the next phase of the negotiations begins. The Sinn Fein MEP Liadh Ni Riada says that MEPs recognise the significance of the Good Friday Agreement when it comes to the Brexit talks.
