Economic Insights 27 July 16: Inflation falls to a 17-year low

The Consumer Price Index – the main measure of inflation in Australia – rose by 0.4 per cent in the June quarter, in line with expectations. The annual rate of inflation fell from 1.3 per cent to 1.0 per cent – equalling the low set in June 1999.
