Morning Report 26 April 19 : Mixed earnings weigh on US equity markets

US sharemarkets were mixed on Thursday. Shares in 3M fell by
12.9%, weighing substantially on the Dow Jones index, after it cut
its earnings outlook for 2019 and announced plans to lay off 2,000

workers. But technology stocks were higher after better-than-
expected results from Facebook (shares up 5.85%) and Microsoft

(shares up 3.3%). The Dow Jones lost 135 points or 0.5%. The
S&P500 index fell by less than 0.1%. But the Nasdaq index rose by
almost 17 points or 0.2%.
