US Close 15 AUG 16. Aussie markets up 0.6% last week big week ahed on the earnings front.

US sharemarkets ended mixed as investors digested weak economic data. Producer prices fell more than expected while retail sales fell short of expectations. But shares in department store Nordstrom rose by 8% in response to better-than-expected sales data. The Dow Jones index fell by 37 points or 0.2% from record highs. The S&P 500 index fell 0.1% from record highs. The Nasdaq gained 4.5 points or 0.1%, lifting to fresh record highs. Over the week the Dow rose by 0.2%, the S&P 500 index rose by 0.1% and the Nasdaq rose by 0.2%
