The US Federal Reserve left the federal funds target rate unchanged at 0.25-0.50%. The FOMC removed reference to the phrase that indicated balanced risks to the economic outlook. US sharemarkets eased after the Federal Reserve decision. At the close of trade the Dow Jones index was lower by 223 points or 1.4% with the S&P 500 down by 1.1% while the Nasdaq lost almost 100 points or 2.2%.
