The former GAA president Sean Kelly is calling for a policy of zero tolerance when it comes to verbal and physical abuse of referees at matches. He says more controls are needed on the sidelines to change the culture of abuse which can start as soon as the match begins.
The Fine Gael MEP says he was horrified at the recent cases of abuse of referees on the pitches.
