Mid-Session 20 Jul 2021: ASX falls but well off opening lows

The Aussie market is recovering from its opening slump with the ASX 200 but still remains slightly in negative territory at lunch. Energy & mining stocks are weighing most. The world’s largest miner, BHP is down on a production update while it was revealed Santos attempted a $22 billion merger with Oil Search.
