US Pre-Close 18 Dec 18: Stocks slump to March lows

The US sharemarket has slumped by more than 1% in continued volatile trade as Christmas approaches. Investors remain focused on the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision on Thursday and the potential for a partial US government shutdown at the end of this week. Johnson & Johnson is one of the worst performers due to concerns the asbestos baby powder scandal could worsen.
