Let’s face it – the process of childbirth is not exactly a walk in the park. Giving birth can be scary, daunting, and traumatizing for many women, especially for first-time mothers.
Women have traditionally been supported by a companion or a doula during childbirth, and there is good evidence this benefits both the woman and the baby, as recommended by the World Health Organization as well.
Who is a doula, what do they do exactly… and do you need a doula?
Today, we are speaking to Johanna-Maria Wagner, President of “Doulas of Singapore” organization, and founder of the BumpWise community to answer these questions and more that you might have.
“Doulas of Singapore” is a registered non-profit organization run by doulas who are professional birth workers certified with internationally renowned institutions on a voluntary basis.
