US Market Close 16 Feb 17 - stocks rally to record close for fifth straight day

US sharemarkets rose to fresh record highs on Wednesday. Financials led the gains on prospects for higher interest rates in coming months. Share prices for a number of airlines rose by over 2% after Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway reported a lift in investments in the sector. At the close of trade, the Dow Jones index was up by 107 points or 0.5%. The S&P 500 index was up by 0.5% while the Nasdaq was higher by almost 37 points or 0.6%.
