Authority of the Sunnah

The Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Saw) has been accepted as an important source of Islamic law, next in importance only to the Holy Quran. This status of the Sunnah has remained unchallenged and undisputed throughout the centuries.

Allah (swt) in the Quran insists repeatedly on the "obedience of the Prophet (saw)" so much so that it is mentioned side by side with the obedience of Allah (swt). Furthermore, the Ittiba'(following) of the Prophet (saw) is stressed numerous times in the Quran as a way of pleasing Allah (Swt).
