Better rights on the way for rail passengers – Clune

Better rights for rail passengers are on the cards following a vote in the European Parliament this week (Thursday). MEPs voted for higher compensation to be paid to rail passengers who suffer delays.

They also gave the green light for better assistance to people with reduced mobility, better access for cyclists, and clearer complaints-handling procedures. The European Parliament also want rail companies to improve information given to passengers about their rights.  

The Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune, who is on the European Parliament’s Transport Committee, says the vote signals good news for passengers.
