Market Close 3 May 22: First rate hike in 11 1/2 years

The Australian sharemarket fell by 0.4%, sliding for a second day as the Reserve Bank raised interest rates for the first time in 11 1/2 years. Banks and insurers bounced off their lows while tech and property stocks pulled back in late trade.
