The Lord has taught much on forgiveness. We are commanded to do so. 

 

Mark 11:26 KJV

But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

 

John 20:23 KJV

Whose soever sins ye remit they are remitted unto them: and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
