Market Close 4 Jan 2021: Best day in 2 months

The Australian sharemarket bounced back from heavy losses a day earlier, with the ASX 200 surging by 1.5%. Gains from mining stocks were most impressive, with Fortescue Metals hitting a fresh record high.
