AM Report 9 Aug 18: Trade and sanction concerns overshadows results

US sharemarkets were mixed on Wednesday. China confirmed a 25% tariff charge on US$16 billion worth of US goods. Shares of trade-sensitive industrial companies Boeing (-0.9%) and Caterpillar (-1.9%) both fell. Walt Disney shares were down 2.2% after its quarterly profit missed expectations. Shares of Tesla (-2.4%) fell as its board evaluated Elon Musk's proposal to take the company private. The falling oil price weighed on Chevron (-1.0%) and Exxon Mobil (-0.7%). The Dow Jones index fell by 45 points or 0.2%. The S&P 500 index fell by just 0.03%
