The Carbon Fee and Dividend Calculator is a easy-to-use online tool to estimate the financial outcome of the policy for an individual household under the first-year carbon dioxide fee of $15 per metric ton. It's a way to take the abstract statistical findings of the Household Impact Study down to the personal level.
Join Rick Knight, CCE's Research Coordinator and Ricky Bradley, CCL's IT Director as they walk through this CCL-created powerful new tool for all CCL volunteers.
To use the Calculator, you will need to be able to supply seven key pieces of information: number of adults in your household, number of children, annual household income (nearest $1,000), zip code, what type of car you drive, type of dwelling (house, apartment, etc.), and the type of home heating (electricity, natural gas, etc.). That information will allow the Calculator to compute your household dividend and make a "default" estimate of what the carbon fee will cost a typical household with those characteristics.
This tool is a handy way to answer questions from friends, family, interested parties at a tabling event or presentation, or potential supporters who need a clearer idea of how the Carbon Fee and Dividend works. It can be used to create case studies for households in a particular Congressional District or town and can also be used to find out how certain lifestyle change will affect your bottom line under our policy.
