US Market Close 10 Jan 17: Energy stocks weigh on the Dow but the NASDAQ hits record highs

US sharemarkets were mixed on Monday. The energy sector fell in response to a lower oil price but technology stocks bucked the trend. The Dow rose 0.4%. The S&P 500 index fell 0.4% but the Nasdaq was up 0.2% to close at a record high.
