US Close 5 Jul 16: No trade in the US, Europe weaker, big focus on RBA

European shares fell for the first time in five sessions on Monday. Gains in mining stocks were offset by losses in the financial sector. Italian bank Monte dei Paschi hit a record low after the European Central Bank requested that it sell its bad loans. Italy's FTSE MIB fell by 1.7%. The FTSEurofirst 300 index fell by 0.6%, the German Dax fell by 0.7%, while the UK FTSE lost 0.8%. In London trade, shares in BHP Billiton rose 1.3% while Rio Tinto rose 0.5%.
