Morning Report 6 May 21: US sharemarkets were mixed on Wednesday

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen clarified the comments she made the previous day on higher interest rates, saying this wasn't something that she was "predicting or recommending". Energy and materials led the gains with financials and industrials stocks. The Dow Jones index rose by 97 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.1% but the Nasdaq index fell by 51 points or 0.4%.
