Whether it comes slowly or suddenly, each of us must face death. It is the wages of sin. When it strikes someone in our own family, it is devastating. The daughter of a synagogue leader was deathly sick, and he went to Jesus for help. Jesus told him not to be afraid; just believe. Jesus listened to his request. Jesus went with him. Jesus did more than he asked and certainly more than he deserved. He showed his deep compassion to rescue from death.
