Morning Report 16 Mar 21: US sharemarkets were firmer on Monday

The airlines sector rose by 4.1% while key travel-related stocks rose 3-5%. Shares in Eli Lilly and Co shares fell 9.1% after "mixed" results from the drug maker's mid-stage trial testing its experimental drug to treat Alzheimer's. At the close, the Dow Jones index was higher for the seventh straight session, up by 175 points or 0.5% to record highs. The S&P 500 index lifted by 0.7% to record highs. And the Nasdaq index gained 140 points or 1.1%.
