Thomas a Kempis encourages us to turn to God in all our troubles. We will face troubles. We will face interior troubles and exterior troubles. Our hope cannot be in ourselves or any other mere man. Yes, God makes use of human instruments. Yes, Christ acts through his servants. But it is Christ, God the Son, in whom we must place boundless trust. He cannot deceive or be deceived.
