Christian living was never intended to be ruled by our five senses: taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell. Nor should our lives be ruled by our feelings and emotions. Feelings and emotions are God-given gifts, but I have learned from experience and working with others that feelings and emotions spend a lot of time in bumper cars. I have seen feelings and emotions become doubtful in the presence of truth, and hopeful in the midst of lies. In other words, they drive drunk at times. So, what do we rely on? What can we put our trust in? It’s not a what, it’s a who. We listen for the voice of perfect pitch, and perfect peace, the voice of the Holy Spirit, the voice of truth. The One who always points us to Jesus, the portrait of the invisible God.
