Scott is not your “typical” CFO (not that there's anything wrong with that). He has always been fascinated by how things work, and that has led him to continuously seek a deeper understanding of how businesses really function. While he is passionate about being a Finance leader, he is drawn to learning how enterprises grow and thrive, and how to build and develop the teams that create meaningful opportunities for people - and ultimately drive value creation.
Scott also leads a class in the UAB School of Entrepreneurship called "Entrepreneurial Finance and Accounting", in which the entrepreneurs of tomorrow learn how to develop and use Accounting and Finance skills in their future endeavors.
In this episode we’re discussing how a CFO can create value in an organization; how to manage the ever-expanding role of the CFO and why they should be asking for more; and building culture as a finance leader.
