When God made Adam and gave him charge over the rest of creation, He looked upon Him and pronounced that this significant task cannot be done by Adam alone, he needed a helper. God in his all-wise design, made all the creatures in twos, the man was to be no different if he must fulfill his mandate. A helper was made for the man so he can do what he cannot do alone. This is telling. It signifies how critical the role of the wife is in God's creation plan. Understanding this role through the lens of scripture is the only way to live and enjoy the full privilege of working alongside the man to fulfill God's intent for his creation. 

The context of the wife's role as a helper is likened to the role of a military general who commits to defending the cause of his territory alongside his comrades, giving all of himself as though the entire victory depended on him. Such is the enormity and blessedness of the status of a wife that nothing worthwhile is achieved when she's restrained from her God given role. 

Living as God has ordained is a powerful and transformative tool that brings order and beauty out of the family experience and by extension, all of creation.
