Morning Report 7 Oct 19: US stocks dodge a bullet on jobs data

US sharemarkets were higher on Friday. Investors were encouraged by the jobs report. And Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell said the economy was "in a good place". Shares in Apple rose 2.8% after saying it will lift production of iPhone 11. The Dow Jones rose by 372 points or 1.4%. The S&P500 index rose by 1.4% and the Nasdaq gained 110 points or 1.4%. Over the week the Dow lost 0.9%, the S&P 500 lost 0.3% but the Nasdaq gained 0.5%.
