Have you ever argued or tried to have a rational discussion with your husband only to have him respond with something like: “That’s your issue, not mine” “I can’t control what you think” “You’re being so dramatic” “What about when you did…” This is so frustrating!!! If your husband often responds to you using statements such as this or If your husband refuses to take accountability or responsibility for his wrongs and even worse tries to turn it around to you he is using deflection as his defense mechanism.

This is so frustrating!!! If your husband often responds to you using statements such as this or If your husband refuses to take accountability or responsibility for his wrongs and even worse tries to turn it around to you he is using deflection as his defense mechanism.

While deflection is a symptom of some emotional immaturity and in some cases can be a symptom of a greater issue (i.e. narcissism) there is hope! This episode will give you some tools to cope and overcome deflective behavior.
