Jeremiah 10:23–24 teaches that:
Humans are not capable of directing their lives perfectly on their own
We must rely on God for wisdom and guidance
When God corrects us, we should desire His loving discipline, not His wrath
This same truth is demonstrated in Joshua 9, when:
Joshua and the Israelites were deceived by the Gibeonites
They made a peace treaty without seeking God’s guidance
The result brought long-term consequences they couldn’t undo
Joshua and the leaders trusted their eyesight instead of God’s insight.
They said “yes” to something God would have warned them about — if they had asked.
