Join Dion and Jana Jerusalem for a review of the first two nights of the G1 Climax tournament. NJPW's signature summer tournament has moved to the fall for 2020, and the first two shows do not disappoint!
Night 1 features Block A stand-out matches between Tomohiro Ishii and Minoru Suzuki, Shingo Takagi and Jay White, and a main event of Kazuchika Okada against last year's tournament winner, Kota Ibushi. Night 1 set a high bar for the shows to come.
Night 2, featuring Block B matches, jumped over that bar and stuck its tongue out on the way down. A returning Juice Robinson challenged NEVER trios champion YOSHI-HASHI. SANADA brought a completely new look (Jana hates it) to battle Toru Yano. KENTA and Hirooki Goto inflicted considerable damage on each other. Zack Sabre, Jr. actually came off as a babyface against EVIL. The main event of Hiroshi Tanahashi against double champion Tetsuya Naito has to be seen to be believed. This year's G1 may be different in many ways, but the best professional wrestling on the planet is very much the same.
