- the SCOTUS has been holding hearings on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a 2018 case in which Mississippi passed a law prohibiting abortion after 15 weeks. This was in conflict with Roe v. Wade which had viability at 24 weeks. Yesterday, Politico released a leaked document that appeared to be the preliminary majority decision in this case. Justice Alito stated that “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled, It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.” Alex discusses how this is against true libertarianism and is a rejection of the harm principle. He also discusses how this will make abortions less safe, but it will not end them.
- There are reports from Kremlin officials that have been obtained that note that Putin has cancer and is going to be getting surgery. The reports note that the cancer is not severe and Putin’s absence will be short. Alex discusses how people should not be excited about this change, Nikolai Patrushev will be the leader in Putin’s absence. He is a “yes-man” to Putin who has peddled lies about denazification in Ukraine.
