US Close 5 Dec 16: Mixed close in US on Friday all about Italian referendum today.

US sharemarkets finished little-changed on Friday. Financials led the declines as investors booked profits.  At the close of trade the Dow Jones index was lower by 21.5 points or 0.1% with the S&P 500 index up by just under 1 point or less than 0.1% while the Nasdaq gained 4.5 points or 0.1%. Over the week the Dow rose by 0.1% but the S&P 500 fell by 1.0% and the Nasdaq lost 2.7%.

 

In US economic data, non-farm payrolls (employment) rose by 178,000 in November
