There’s something about this time of year that seems to make everything speed up. The days grow shorter, the to-do lists grow longer, the expectations grow higher, the pace grows faster, and it starts to feel like we’ll fall behind and fail if we stop moving—sprinting—to the ever-elusive finish line.
Studies show that we’ve just entered the most stressful season of the year. The months of November and December bring a tsunami of new stressors into our already hectic lives: family gatherings and travel plans; parties, celebrations and decorations; commercialism and shopping; over-spending, over-scheduling and over-eating.
Is there something we can do before it all does us in?
How do we give ourselves the space and time to be fully present, awake and aware, and open to surprise and spontaneity?
How can we tame the whirlwind, simplify, and just be?
