Days of Our Lives fans had a heart-rending week as the beloved character John Black (Drake Hogestyn) passed away. Among those returning to Salem to say farewell were Carrie Brady (Christie Clark), Paul Narita (Christopher Sean), Andrew Donovan (Colton Little), Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy), and Teresa Donovan (Emily O'Brien). Andrew's upcoming wedding to Paul and the return of Shane, the chief of the ISA and a long-time friend of John's, adds further layers to the plot on the NBC Peacock soap opera. 

Will Horton (Chandler Massey), John and Marlena's (Deidre Hall) first-born grandson, has also returned, but it remains to be seen if his husband Sonny Kiriakis (Zach Tinker) will join him. Another intriguing twist was the mention of Sammy Brady (Alison Sweeney) and Sydney DiMera (Avery and Cade Seger) trying to catch a flight back to Salem. The following weeks promise more heartbreak as the residents of Salem bid farewell to John Black, mirroring the real-life loss of actor Drake Hogestyn.
