US Close 17 May 18: US stocks recover from yesterday’s losses

US sharemarkets rose on Wednesday. Retailers rose after a good profit report from Macy's. Shares in Macy's rose by 10.8% after earnings beat expectations. Investors continue to watch trade negotiations between the US and China. Also there are doubts whether the talks between the US and North Korea will go ahead, adding to uncertainties for investors. After trading in a 128 point range, the Dow Jones closed higher by 62.5 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.4% and the Nasdaq index rose by almost 47 points or 0.6%
