Reflecting on the iconic story of the woman at the well (Jn 4:1-42), Fr. Eric talks about how Christ pursues us relentlessly in the midst of our own brokenness and frailty. Topics discussed include the Lord’s tendency to lead with an appeal to our deepest desires, as opposed to the demands of the moral life; historical tensions between Jews and Samaritans at the time of Christ; and the issue of right worship.
Fr. Eric speaks also about how our being claimed by Christ can lead us out of a stance of shame, fear and embarrassment in favor of our rejoicing being loved by Him as we are; and how our underlying motivation for evangelization and sharing in the Church’s mission should be to satiate the thirst of the Good Shepherd for His lost sheep.
