Morning Report 3 Jun 21: US sharemarkets rose modestly on Wednesday

The energy sector led gains in response to a higher oil price. But the materials sector eased. Reuters noted "shares of AMC Entertainment jumped 100.2%, leading a surge in a group of stocks favoured by retail investors on forums such as Reddit's WallStreetBets." The Dow Jones index rose by 25 points or 0.1%. The S&P 500 index also rose by 0.1%. And the Nasdaq index rose by 20 points or 0.1%.
