EU stood up to ‘bullies’ in budget row - Kelly

Seán Kelly says European citizens are the winners after Parliament approved a new law linking EU funds to respecting EU values.

 

Poland and Hungary had objected to the ‘rule of law mechanism’ and threatened to block the long-term budget and COVID recovery fund as a result.

 

A compromise was reached whereby the clause could be introduced but tested in court.
