One week before the 2020 presidential election, I interviewed Carlo Barrera, a 28-year-old Dreamer, originally brought to the US when he was 6-years old from Queretaro, Mexico. I had him on the show for a couple reasons. 1, I wanted to know more about the Dream Act from a personal perspective and 2, to try and humanize policy. We, and when I say we I mostly mean I, often don't realize that legislation and policies enacted by our officials have consequences that affect people's lives. It's easy to dismiss the magnitute of such policies when we don't have a personal connection to them.

Our 4th interview today is a follow up 4+ months post Biden inauguration to get a pulse on how he and 750,000 other similar Dreamers are feeling and what the next steps are as they hope for a pathway to permanent citizenship. The Democrats have control of the House, Senate and Presidency so one would think passing this legislation would be a slam dunk. No so much.
