Tim Burga Ohio (Ohio AFL-CIO) / Douglas Nelson (IBEW Local 223)

Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga joined the America’s Work Force Union Podcast and discussed a recent Gallup poll that found 71 percent of Americans approve of unions – the highest approval rating since 1965 – and what it means for the future of organizing. He also talked about the AFL-CIO’s goal to organize 1 million new members in the next decade. 

 

Doug Nelson, Business Manager and Financial-Secretary of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 223, appeared on the AWF Union Podcast and talked about the need to grow the Local’s apprenticeship programs to meet the demands of an expanding economy. He also talked about the opportunities available to IBEW members in wind, solar and battery storage projects.
