Expanding our Vocabulary – Poverty Pornography Charities often use exploitative images – now termed as poverty pornography – to raise awareness and money for causes. However, the idea of a Western “knight in shining armour” devalues the poor, reduces their agency, and presents a dependency on a forgone cup of coffee.
